Does my cerdit card company have the rite to discuss my account with onyone w/o my permission?

My credit card company called my home and discused my account with whom they thought was my wife.She is not on the account and the account was started before whe were married.How did they know who they were talking to?When I call them I have to answer a ton of questions before they will talk with me.
